One more step up.
Being the runner-up is never as memorable as being the winner. Everyone knows Landon Donovan was the MLS Most Valuable Player in 2009. The second most votes went to who? Give up. The runner-up was Shalrie Joseph. Yes, his efforts made New England the 8th seed in the playoffs when the team was filled with injuries to so many starters. He scored big goals, last minute goals and these were not penalty kicks either. Joseph is joining Union Southern California. Look for him to score some for the Blues this summer.
