Game ReCap #1: Blues bitten by last minute roster change

The first game of 2010 saw the Blues offense appear to be more potent than its previous squad. Four players had contributions to the scoresheet, but its the wasted goal by Brad Evans that is getting all the attention. Its easy to second guess yourself after the fact, but this one stings even more because the orginal plan was to start Evans. At the last minute the decision came down to put LeToux in his place. While LeToux did play a good game on Thursday and took several shots, none of them made it into the back of the net.

The Monarchs played a great game. They had no cards and controlled the scoring from the get go. While Union S.C. did compete, The club had sub-par performances from Conor Casey and Sasha Kljestan and these are grounds for concern. Donovan Ricketts did collect his first shut out of the season, but was hardly challenged all night in his game. Union S.C. really wanted this game. Besides playing against the defending champions, this game also was to serve as a confidence boost to the new season. The Blues will have to forget this one and focus on its next match.
